Job summary

Synoptek seeks a Senior Software Engineer - Business Intelligence to design, develop, and optimize scalable BI solutions and ETL pipelines across on‑prem and cloud. You will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable analytics environments, implement data quality controls, and mentor junior team members.

Role requires 5+ years in BI or analytics, strong SQL/ETL skills, data modeling, and experience with data governance.

Qualifications

• Requires at least 5 years of experience in BI development, software engineering, data engineering, enterprise reporting, or analytics environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field is required; cloud/BI certifications are preferred.
• Strong SQL, ETL, data modeling, data governance, and data quality skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize BI solutions, ETL workflows, reporting, and data integration.
• Collaborate with business, analytics, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Develop and maintain data models, SQL scripts, stored procedures, dashboards, and reports.
• Build and support ETL pipelines across on‑premises and cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot data quality, performance, and integration issues and validate reporting logic.
• Participate in architecture discussions and provide technical recommendations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including data mappings and procedures.
• Mentor junior developers and participate in Agile delivery and sprints.

The Senior Software Engineer - Business Intelligence is responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and supporting scalable business intelligence solutions, ETL pipelines, enterprise reporting platforms, and analytics environments. This role provides technical leadership across business intelligence initiatives by contributing to data architecture, reporting optimization, performance tuning, and enterprise analytics solutions while ensuring data quality, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency. The position collaborates closely with business stakeholders, analytics teams, developers, and technical leadership to deliver scalable and reliable business intelligence capabilities and mentor junior team members.

Role

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize business intelligence solutions, ETL workflows, reporting systems, and data integration processes.
• Collaborate with business, analytics, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver reporting and analytics solutions.
• Develop and maintain data models, SQL scripts, stored procedures, dashboards, and reporting solutions.
• Build, optimize, and support ETL pipelines across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex reporting, data quality, performance, and integration issues.
• Validate reporting logic, data transformations, and reporting accuracy.
• Perform performance tuning for SQL queries, stored procedures, ETL workflows, and reporting platforms.
• Participate in architecture discussions and provide technical recommendations aligned with business objectives.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including solution designs, data mappings, and operational procedures.
• Participate in code reviews and enforce development, reporting, and data governance standards.
• Mentor junior developers through technical guidance and knowledge-sharing activities.
• Support Agile delivery activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and project execution.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and leadership teams to support business intelligence initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to reporting quality, analytics performance, and operational efficiency.
