Job summary

PTR Global is seeking a Senior Data Engineer in Cincinnati to design, develop and support scalable IBM DataStage ETL solutions and data pipelines. You will collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver high-quality data integration that aligns with enterprise architecture standards.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of engineering experience (minimum 6 years required).
  • IBM DataStage expertise 11.7+ with parallel jobs, sequencers, parameter sets.
  • Advanced SQL/PLSQL in Oracle and DB2 environments.
  • Snowflake experience including Streams/Tasks, stages, secure views.
  • Unix/Linux Shell scripting for automation, batch scheduling, and ops support.
  • Strong ETL/ELT, Data Warehousing, and Data Lake/Lakehouse knowledge.
  • Git, CI/CD, Agile/DevOps practices knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support complex ETL/ELT solutions with DataStage.
  • Create reusable ETL frameworks and metadata-driven workflows.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data integration designs.
  • Implement data extraction, transformation, validation, cleansing, loading processes.
  • Integrate data from Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Snowflake, flat files, and cloud storage.
  • Design cloud-native pipelines and migrate on-prem data to Snowflake.
  • Optimize data movement for data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses.
  • Provide production support, incident management, and performance tuning.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable IBM DataStage ETL solutions and enterprise data pipelines for mission-critical applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business and technology teams to deliver high-quality, performant, and reliable data integration solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards. This role requires extensive experience working with multiple source and target systems, including Oracle, DB2, Snowflake, flat files, cloud storage, and structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources. The candidate should possess deep expertise in IBM DataStage, Snowflake, Unix Shell Scripting, and PL/SQL.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and support complex ETL/ELT solutions using IBM DataStage and enterprise data pipelines.
  • Develop reusable ETL frameworks using IBM DataStage, parameterized jobs, metadata-driven solutions, and automated data processing workflows.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable ETL designs and data integration solutions.
  • Implement data extraction, transformation, validation, cleansing, reconciliation, and loading processes using DataStage.
  • Integrate data from Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Snowflake, flat files, XML, JSON, Parquet, and cloud storage platforms using DataStage.
  • Design and develop cloud-native data pipelines and migrate data from on-premises systems to Snowflake.
  • Optimize data movement processes and support data warehouse, data lake, and Lakehouse platforms.
  • Enable enterprise analytics and reporting solutions.
  • Perform performance tuning, root cause analysis, production support, and incident management.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver solutions independently after training.
Qualifications:
  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM DataStage 11.7 or above, including Parallel Jobs, Sequencers, Parameter Sets, Job Monitoring, Administration, and Performance Tuning.
  • Advanced SQL and PL/SQL development skills with strong experience in Oracle and DB2 environments.
  • Strong experience with Snowflake, including Streams and Tasks, Dynamic Tables, Internal and External Stages, Secure Views, Data Sharing, and Query Performance Optimization.
  • Strong Unix/Linux Shell Scripting skills for process automation, file handling, batch scheduling, operational support, and production troubleshooting.
  • Experience creating high-performance batch, incremental, and CDC-based data pipelines for large-volume data processing.
  • Strong understanding of ETL/ELT architecture, Data Warehousing, Dimensional Modeling, Data Lakes, and Data Lakehouse architectures.
  • Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
  • 8-10 years of engineering experience (minimum 6 years required).
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CI/CD experience.
  • Performance optimization in Snowflake.
  • Previous payments industry experience.

  • Two rounds, panel style interviews.
  • Interviews expected to start next week for qualified candidates.

Pay Range: $55- $70/hour
