Job summary

Job Overview

Senior Data Engineer with Paramount Skydance Corporation plays an essential role in building data pipelines, data structures, and data products for Paramount Digital Media.

Responsibilities

• Work with large volumes of traffic data and user behaviors to build pipelines that enhance raw data.
• Break down and communicate highly complex data problems into simple, feasible solutions.
• Extract patterns from large datasets and transform data into an informational advantage.
• Find answers to business questions via hands‑on exploration of data sets using Jupyter, SQL, dashboards, statistical analysis, and data visualizations.
• Partner with internal product and business intelligence teams to determine the best approach around data ingestion, structure, and storage, and ensure successful implementation.
• Lead initiatives to improve data quality and effectiveness by contributing ideas and collaborating with engineering, BI teams, and business units.
• Develop technical solutions, maintain documentation, and train impacted teams.
• Collaborate on internal initiatives to create strategies that improve company processes.
• Stay current on the latest technology and trends, improving efficiency and introducing knowledge to team members.
• Develop prototypes to proof out data pipeline and product strategies.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Analytics fields or consulting roles with a focus on digital analytics implementations.
• Experience with large‑scale data warehouse management systems such as BigQuery, advanced knowledge of cost management and query optimization.
• Proficient in Python.
• Experience with Airflow or equivalent orchestration tools.
• Experience with data modeling of performant table structures.
• Ability to write SQL for analysis and transformations.
• Strong problem‑solving and creative‑thinking skills.
• Capability to design solutions, maintain accurate documentation, and deliver training to impacted teams.
• Experience developing solutions via hands‑on discovery and exploration of data.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to translate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• Strong experience with ETL & ELT.
• Experience building and deploying applications on GCP.
• Influences and applies data standards, policies, and procedures.
• Builds strong commitment within the team to support priority mandates.
• Knowledge of new and evolving technologies via formal training and self‑directed learning.

Bonus Skills

• Experience with BigQuery and other GCP technologies.
• Experience with Docker and container deployment.
• Experience with marketing tools such as Kochava, Braze, Branch, Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis using iPython Notebook, Pandas & matplotlib.
• Familiarity with Hadoop pipelines using Spark and Kafka.
• Familiar with GIT.
• Familiar with Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics.
• Digital marketing strategy: site, video, social media, SEM, SEO, display advertising.

Benefits and Compensation

Hiring salary range: $110,400 - $165,600, applicable to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington, and other geographies. Starting pay depends on factors such as location, market demands, experience, training, and education. Bonus eligibility applies.
