Job summary

Oracle Corporation is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to serve as the technical liaison for Data Center Environment operations, ensuring high availability and reliability. You will monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, document solutions, and proactively improve processes with a focus on automation.

Ideal candidates have a TS/SCI clearance, a BS in CS/IS or equivalent, and 3–8 years of data center infrastructure and incident management experience.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance w/polygraph.
• BS in CS/IS or equivalent work experience.
• 3–8 years in data center infrastructure operations and server administration in a mid-sized environment.
• 3–8 years of incident management responding to electrical & mechanical failures.
• Expertise in two or more: Power capacity allocation; Incident management; Systems administration; Networking.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and troubleshoot data center infrastructure, logs, and tickets; escalate as needed.
• Execute small projects independently and plan larger local initiatives with your manager.
• Create and maintain documentation on supported technologies and processes.
• Drive process improvements and automation to simplify operations.
• Collaborate with resolver groups to ensure rapid incident resolution for enterprise customers.

Job description

As an Oracle Data Center Technician, you will be the technical liaison between the technology teams and the Data Center Environment and will be key in maintaining the Operational run aspects. You will be supporting our growth path and will be recognized as a ‘technical expert’ with a focus on core Data Center infrastructure. You will troubleshoot and solve all but the most complex infrastructure issues. As a pragmatic problem solver on a wide range of Data Center environment and systems you understand which issues to elevate to the appropriate resolver groups.You willproactively monitor the customer environment by checking system error logs,monitoring ticket queues and consulting with other groups involved in maintaining the environments. You will make recommendations to resolve system errors and performance issues and take corrective actions. You create and maintain documentation on technologies you support. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. You know how to innovate and make decisions on his/her own, but also know how to take direction when it is given, paying attention to all details involved. Expected to improve current processes, and introduce automation with aim towards simplification.

You are able to execute small projects on your own and work with your manager in planning and executing larger local projects. You understand all aspects of the equipment you support. Ideally we are seeking someone from a reputable Cloud provider and are also open to receiving applications from Tier 1 Data Center colocation providers. This would suit an individual who is able add significant value based on existing experience whilst evolving their career upstream into Cloud Services .

Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI security clearance w/polygraph
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
• 3-8 years of experience, primarily in Data Center infrastructure Operations support and server administration in a mid-sized environment (200 - 1000+ server systems)
• 3-8 years of incident management responding to electrical and mechanical failures with a focus on incident resolution and lessons learned.
• Must have demonstrated expertise in two or more of these areas:
• Power Capacity allocation – high and low density racks
• Incident management and resolution on outages
• Systems administration (Linux and/or Windows Servers)
• Networking (DNS, TCP/IP)
• You should also be able to demonstrate
  • A solid level understanding of data center design, commissioning and operations best practices and ensures their application
  • Examples of process improvement execution
  • Examples of a drive to dig into the details of a system or process to solve customer problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong Adherence to Process and be process champion
