Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Data Center Engineer in Hampton, VA for a fully onsite role supporting modernization efforts. You will design and lead end-to-end data center migrations, from on-prem to on-prem, including consolidations and hybrid/cloud-adjacent moves.

The role requires 12+ years of experience and a Top Secret/SCI clearance. You will collaborate with infrastructure, network, storage, security, and application teams to implement migration roadmaps, architectures, and DR strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of experience.
• Clearance: Top Secret/SCI.
• Deep data center infrastructure knowledge including compute, storage, and networking.
• Experience with large-scale data center migrations.
• Proficient in virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).

Responsibilities

• Design and lead end-to-end data center migration strategies.
• Assess environments to create migration roadmaps and execution plans.
• Architect target-state data center designs aligned with security and compliance.
• Collaborate across infra, network, storage, security, and apps teams.
• Lead technical decisions on virtualization, storage, networking, and DR.
