Job summary

Educated Solutions Corp seeks a Senior Data Center Manager for an onsite role in Lisle, IL. The position oversees a 24 MW data center with 10 staff (expanding to 15) and manages MEP and IT operations, providing leadership and ensuring client satisfaction.

Job description

Our client, a global leader in Commercial Real Estate and Facilities Management is seeking a Senior Data Center Manager. This position is part of a 24 MegaWatt-650K sq ft Data Center with a staff of 10 and growing (5 new headcounts approved = 15 total staff) and this role will manage the client the staff and all things “data center” (M&E and IT). This full time role will work onsite in Lisle, IL, pays $140K with an 8% bonus and unlimited PTO and seeks a candidate to work normal M-F 8am-5pm hours. This role contains a strong benefit package.

The key to this role is past recent and relevant experience managing a Data Center and staff supporting all data center functions including the M&E and IT functions. The incumbent will:

  • Manage a team responsible for providing oversight of building operations and maintenance for a large data center with multiple clients and 24 MW of power.
  • Provide formal supervision to employees.
  • Monitor the training and development of staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching.
  • Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
  • Schedule and manage the team's daily activities.
  • Manage the relationship with the client while working with other stakeholders to meet all MSA requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring the completion of configuration management, work orders, preventative maintenance, and repairs within the agreed SLA timeframe.
  • Resolve unforeseen circumstances that occur and inform the client or Sr. management when needed.
  • Verify facility infrastructure equipment installations are within the agreed SLA timeframe.
  • Oversee Information Technology equipment power installations, relocation and decommission requests.
  • Check daily routine cleanup of the data halls and review findings.
  • Confirm all deployments are installed to applicable internal, manufacturer, and industry standards.
  • Ensure that all records are updated following any changes made. Ensure that documentation is also kept up to date for all applicable processes.
  • Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments and present to Sr. management.
  • Apply knowledge of own discipline and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years experience managing, building teams and successfully maintaining mechanical and electrical equipment in a Data Center environment.
  • 5+ years experience managing mechanical and electrical project work in a data center environment.
  • 3+ years managing a team of 5 or more employees.
  • Familiarity with IT related data center equipment - install/rack/stack.
  • Experience completing and documenting data center installation standards and project tracking/management.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex project documents, blueprints and facilities plans.
  • Knowledge of all applicable rules, laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances in performing data/communications and MEP projects.
  • Experience with cost estimation and cost tracking of data center installations.
  • Experience processing and tracking of purchase order requests and invoice tracking.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of tools: Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
