Job summary

ThinkingAhead is seeking a Senior Data Center Development Engineer to join our Fort Worth team. The role centers on site origination, master planning, and front-end engineering to turn opportunities into build-ready projects.

You will lead consultants, coordinate with development, engineering, innovation, and construction teams, ensuring designs are scalable, compliant, and operationally efficient. The position reports to the VP of Project Development & Delivery.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure design.
  • Background in engineering or architecture.
  • Experience with campus master planning and front-end design.
  • Strong understanding of data center systems, constructability, and design standards.
  • Ability to lead consultants and manage cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with tools like AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site master planning and conceptual design for new data center campuses.
  • Drive front-end engineering to ensure designs are scalable, buildable, and operationally efficient.
  • Translate development opportunities into technically sound, execution-ready plans.
  • Partner across development, engineering, innovation, and construction teams.
  • Manage architectural and engineering consultants from concept through detailed design.
  • Ensure alignment with design roadmap, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support site due diligence, feasibility studies, and design standardization efforts.
  • Facilitate smooth handover from development to delivery.

Reporting to the VP of Project Development & Delivery, the Senior Data Center Development Engineer role sits at the center of site origination, master planning, and front-end engineering—turning early-stage opportunities into build-ready projects.

Requirements
  • ~10+ years in data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure design/development
