Job summary

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is seeking a Data Architect I in Austin to design and implement enterprise data architectures for OLTP/OLAP systems and BI use cases.

The role requires strong data modeling, governance, and integration skills, with cloud experience and leadership to mentor teams. Telework is eligible; expect a day shift and regular collaboration with the Chief Technology Office.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology or a STEM related field.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and master data management.
• Experience with data architecture for OLTP/OLAP and data analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain the enterprise data architecture across transactional and analytical systems.
• Develop data models and enterprise standards for naming, metadata, and reference data.
• Define data integration patterns for APIs, event-driven, messaging and batch pipelines.
• Lead data interoperability, ETL with internal systems and external partners.
• Architect data solutions to support reporting, BI, and advanced analytics.
