Job summary

Generac is seeking a Senior Data Architect on its Industrial Cloud team to design and evolve cloud-scale data platforms powering telematics data from energy assets in the field.

You will own the architecture for cloud-based data solutions, ensure scalability and high availability, mentor engineers, and collaborate with product, ML, and cross-functional teams to drive data modeling, performance tuning, and reliability across our generators, storage, and microgrid solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience across the data tier, from design through development and production support.
• 5+ years in a data architecture role with enterprise concepts.
• Experience leading data architecture in production cloud environments (Azure preferred).

Responsibilities

• Define and own the architecture for cloud-based data solutions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability
• Lead data architecture discussions with engineering, product, ML, and cross-functional stakeholders
• Design, build, and maintain production datastores supporting high-speed, high-volume industrial IoT and telematics data
• Translate business and product requirements into conceptual, logical, and physical data models
• Drive best practices for data reliability, performance tuning, partitioning, indexing, and data quality
• Analyze how customers and systems use data, identify inefficiencies, and propose architectural improvements
• Coach and mentor engineers on data architecture best practices through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance
• Clearly explain complex technical solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership
