Position Location: DC-based candidates preferred, but candidates are welcome to apply from across the U.S. Those that are near the Popular Democracy office in DC may be asked to work from the office one or two days/week if necessary. Applicants outside of this area may be required to travel to the Popular Democracy office occasionally.

Popular Democracy is seeking a Senior Data and Technology Manager to join the Data and Technology Department. This is a full-time, exempt position.

About Popular Democracy

Popular Democracy works to promote equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy in partnership with innovative base‑building organizations, organizing networks and alliances, and progressive unions across the country. We work with 46 affiliates in 32 states, Puerto Rico, and DC to build the strength and capacity of democratic organizations that envision and advance a pro‑worker, pro‑immigrant, racial and economic justice agenda. We are a rapidly‑expanding, changing organization that partners with organizations across the country to build political power and win tangible victories that improve the lives of low‑wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color.

About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Data and Technology Manager to administer key systems for Popular Democracy’s Data and Technology (D&T) department, which includes supporting affiliate data requests, creating and delivering data and technology trainings, and managing vendor and consultant relationships. This position collaborates deeply with other D&T members, Popular Democracy staff, and affiliates.

It is expected that the Senior Data and Technology Manager will travel and attend in‑person trainings, meetings, and actions with Popular Democracy affiliates and partners as needed.

We estimate that candidates will have about 10 years of relevant experience, but our review of candidates for this role will focus on whether they can fill the needs of the position, not years of experience.

The Senior Data and Technology Manager will report to the Director of Data and Technology.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Partner with other teammates to lead day‑to‑day administration to the Popular Democracy EveryAction instance to best serve program needs.
  • Work with supervisor and teammates to maintain operational technology at Popular Democracy.
  • Respond to data and tech requests from Popular Democracy staff and affiliate network.
  • Train and support affiliate staff in the use of EveryAction and the adoption of Popular Democracy data architecture for organizing.
  • Ensure data integrity and cleanliness in our EveryAction committees and other tools and systems for organizing and fundraising, including de‑duping and quality control.
  • Administration of key CRM and data systems as assigned (EveryAction, Salesforce, BigQuery, CARTO, movement tools, etc.) to align with program and network needs.
  • Building systems capacity across the network through creating training materials, identifying training needs, and training individuals.
  • Other related duties as needed and assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Significant experience with EveryAction and/or NGPVAN MyCampaign and the ability to quickly connect program goals with system functionality.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is preferred but not required.
  • Past experience in a base‑building organization and belief in the power of organizing.
  • Experience creating and delivering trainings for users and the ability to train and communicate technical concepts with non‑technical people across lines of difference, in both English and Spanish.
  • The ability to have patience and understanding when supporting non‑technical staff.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management including, but not limited to, wrangling large datasets, performing data quality control and cleaning, etc.
  • Creative problem‑solving skills and a solutions‑oriented perspective when working with end users.
  • Customer service, product service, client success, or support experience.
  • The ability and desire to learn new tools. Experience with Salesforce, Mobilize, Hustle, and other common movement tools is a plus but not required.
  • A demonstrated commitment to social, racial, and economic justice and a deep understanding of challenges facing low‑wage workers, immigrant communities, communities of color, disabled people, LGBTQ+ folks, and people at the intersections of the above communities.
Hiring Process

Candidates should expect to participate in two rounds of group interviews and a job simulation exercise. Final candidates will be asked to provide references. Resumes will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
