Fixed-term, benefits-eligible Senior Data Analyst role at Dell Medical School in Austin, TX (hybrid). In this position, you will lead advanced healthcare analytics and help turn complex data into practical decisions across clinical, operational, and financial programs. The role supports mental health initiatives through the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium and reports to the Assistant Director, Operations, with opportunities to mentor analysts and shape data governance and reporting standards.
What you’ll do
- Partner with senior leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to evaluate business needs, support strategic planning, identify opportunities, and resolve complex challenges.
- Conduct advanced analyses of healthcare data and system architectures, providing expert consultation, interpretation, and insight presentations within constraints.
- Analyze datasets to identify meaningful differences and trends, then translate complex business problems into analytical frameworks.
- Lead the design and execution of advanced, data-driven models, synthesizing and processing large datasets to produce actionable insights.
- Build and maintain dashboards and scorecards, standardizing KPIs and reporting methodologies across programs to evaluate effectiveness, impact, and improvement.
- Ensure visualizations are intuitive, accurate, and aligned with strategic goals.
- Oversee databases, data collection systems, and analytics strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and improve data quality.
- Integrate disparate data sources including EHR, claims, financial, and operational systems.
- Support data standards and data quality measures, including defining and implementing data standards.
- Conceptualize, create, and maintain operational and research data models for visualization and statistical analysis.
- Establish standard work procedures governing appropriate data use and document analysis efforts, including sources, reporting specifications, tools used, and issue resolution.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clinical and administrative leaders, consulting with faculty and staff to clarify user needs and data requirements.
- Facilitate data strategy sessions and requirements workshops, building consensus around data definitions and usage.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to data analysts and data management technicians, coordinating work to support timely delivery.
- Contribute to onboarding, training, and professional development, including guidance for student assistants when applicable.
- Evaluate and pilot emerging analytics tools and methodologies, stay current on new technologies and data trends, and lead analytics communities of practice and training sessions.
- Participate in strategic planning and digital transformation initiatives, support grant-funded programs, and lead post-implementation reviews for analytics projects.
- Contribute to vendor evaluations and procurement of analytics tools and represent the organization at professional forums.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Health Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field with at least 5 years of healthcare analytics/data science experience in complex organizational environments, or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading analytics work, managing priorities, and influencing outcomes across cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong skills in large-scale data analysis, data processing, and data technology.
- Experience with advanced analytics tools, data visualizations, and cloud data environments.
- Relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, use critical thinking, manage conflict, make independent decisions, and address challenges effectively.
- High sensitivity to stakeholder needs, with excellent communication and supervisory/tactical and strategic planning skills.
- A Master’s degree in a quantitative or healthcare-related field with at least 7 years of experience in a complex healthcare environment (required for this level).
- Desired: proficiency with student support and case management tools, including TRAYT, and EMR including Athena/EPIC.
- Desired: experience providing guidance or day-to-day coordination to junior staff or support roles.
- Proficiency in REDCap database design, survey development, and data management.
- Preferred: Cloud Data Analytics Certification or equivalent certification for Azure, Google, or AWS.

Additional details
- End date: August 31, 2027 (renewable based on available funding, performance, and progress toward program goals).
- Work arrangement: hybrid in Austin, TX. A flexible working arrangement agreement may be accommodated with program needs and supervisor approval. Occasional on-site work may be required for some of the scheduled week.

Salary
$90,000+ per year, depending on qualifications.
