Job summary

The CERT Security Operations team at the Software Engineering Institute, part of Carnegie Mellon University, seeks a Senior Cybersecurity Operations Researcher to advance mission-driven cyber defense initiatives for US government and international partners.

You will conduct analytical studies, brief leadership, and develop and prototype tools and methodologies, with travel up to 40% and the possibility of obtaining a DoW security clearance.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related with 10+ years experience, or MS with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years.
• Willingness to travel up to 40% domestically and internationally.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoW security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and support analytical studies involving risk, threat, and security data.
• Work independently and with multidisciplinary teams.
• Brief strategic and technical topics to senior leadership and foreign government officials.
• Apply project planning and management methodologies to support program execution.
• Produce clear, well-structured technical documentation.
