Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Cybersecurity Architect to design and maintain a comprehensive security architecture across on‑premises and cloud environments. The role leads security strategy, governance, and incident response while coordinating with IT and business units.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in cybersecurity with leadership experience, strong frameworks knowledge, and proficiency with security tooling, regulatory requirements, and cloud security services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Expertise in security architecture design for enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS and related frameworks.
• Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, SIEM, DLP, and encryption.
• Cloud security experience (AWS/Azure/GCP) and IAM.
• Vulnerability management, penetration testing, risk management.
• DevSecOps and secure SDLC practices.
• Certifications such as CISSP/CISM/CISA preferred.
• Experience with automation tools (SOAR, Ansible, Terraform).

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of a comprehensive cybersecurity architecture strategy aligned with Old Dominion's business objectives.
• Design secure IT environments including network security, cloud architecture, endpoint security, IAM, data protection.
• Architect and implement security controls for on‑premises and cloud infrastructure with defense‑in‑depth principles.
• Oversee vulnerability assessments and risk management activities across technologies.
• Develop and maintain a cybersecurity governance framework with policies and standards.
• Collaborate with leadership to define strategy, risk appetite, and incident response.
• Lead integration of security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management) into IT architecture.
• Ensure compliance with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS.
• Provide security leadership and training across departments; mentor engineers/analysts.
• Manage third‑party risk, vendor due diligence, and security program improvements.
