Salt River Project in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join our Grid Management System Infrastructure, Security, and Compliance team. You will design, administer, maintain, support, secure, and lifecycle network infrastructure for EMS and ADMS applications in a high-security NERC‑CIP environment.

Ideal candidates bring Cisco device expertise, multi-year security experience, and ability to collaborate with IT Support, OT engineering, and external vendors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience for Level 2 or 5 years for Level 3.
• Experience troubleshooting Cisco devices and networks.
• Knowledge of NERC-CIP compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Work within Grid Management System Infrastructure, Security, and Compliance team to manage hardware lifecycles and cutover migrations.
• Lead reliability and redundancy improvements for EMS and ADMS applications.
• Design, administer, maintain, support, secure, and lifecycle network infrastructure technologies in a high-security environment.
• Prepare and deliver reports and presentations covering the network areas managed by the team.
• Perform on-call duties as part of a 24/7 rotation.

Summary

This role works as part of the operational technology Grid Management System Infrastructure, Security, and Compliance team supporting the hardware and network infrastructure used by Energy Management System (EMS) and Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) applications. As a Network Engineer, the position helps design, administer, maintain, support, secure, and lifecycle existing and new infrastructure devices in a high-security environment governed by NERC-CIP compliance requirements. The role supports infrastructure reliability, redundancy, security, and compliance and works closely with Information Technology Support, Operational Technology engineering, infrastructure, application development, Cyber Security Services, outside consultants, and third-party vendors to understand current, planned, developing, and emerging business and technology requirements. The ideal candidate has multiple years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting Cisco devices and networks and has earned, or is prepared to earn, relevant Cisco professional-level certification.

• Work within the operational technology Grid Management System Infrastructure, Security, and Compliance team to complete hardware lifecycles and cutover migrations while minimizing impacts to production.
• Lead and support the optimization of multi-site infrastructure reliability and redundancy for EMS and ADMS applications.
• Design, administer, maintain, support, secure, and lifecycle network and related infrastructure technologies in a high-security environment.
• Work within established infrastructure administration governance and provide peer review of work performed by the team, outside consultants, and third-party vendors.
• Collaborate with Information Technology Support, Operational Technology engineering, infrastructure, application development, Cyber Security Services, and other SRP departments or entities.
• Prepare and deliver reports and presentations covering the network and supporting infrastructure areas managed by the team.
• Perform cyber security tasks and maintain and enhance cyber security frameworks and IT governance plans while supporting NERC-CIP compliance.
• Create, review, and update process and procedural documents, network diagrams, and other relevant records for compliance, infrastructure support, security, knowledge transfer, historical reference, and operational continuity.
• Recommend solutions for new and complex network, infrastructure, security, and compliance challenges, and develop strategies to evaluate the potential impacts of proposed changes.
• Diagnose and resolve network and infrastructure issues at all levels of criticality and perform post-incident root cause analysis when necessary.
• Perform on-call duties as part of a 24/7 call-out rotation.
• Support a positive working environment through continuous learning, education, collaboration, and knowledge sharing with team members and partner organizations.

Education

A bachelor's degree relevant to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Experience

This position may be filled at one of two levels outlined below, based on the candidate’s relevant education, experience, or a combination of both that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Level 2 – Journey: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 6 years may be considered.

Level 3 – Senior: Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience totaling 9 years may be considered.

Eligibility for advancement (progression) to the next level in the same role is based on overall job performance, mastery of all functional responsibilities, and time in position, as assessed by the supervisor.

Additional Requirements and Qualifications

• Meet the professional registration, education, and experience requirements stated for the position.
• Hold or pursue relevant industry certifications. Preferred certifications include CCNA and one or more of the following is a plus: CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Center, CCNP Security, Palo Alto Networks certifications, CISSP, or GIAC.
• Possess multiple years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting Cisco devices and networks.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to implement, support, and troubleshoot IP network infrastructure technologies, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, network routing, network and server load balancing, and network security technologies such as Palo Alto firewalls.
• Demonstrate experience with network automation, monitoring tools, access control, DNS, network domains, security frameworks, and network architectures.
• Administer multi-site environments using Nexus data center switches, vPC redundancy, and spine-and-leaf architecture.
• Diagnose and resolve critical outages on operational technology networks under high pressure and outside normal business hours when required.
• Understand cyber security recovery processes following a compromise and execute associated disaster recovery procedures.
• Understand NERC-CIP compliance standards and associated requirements; prior experience is preferred.
• Manage multiple concurrent assignments effectively while working under pressure.
• Build positive working relationships with employees at all organizational levels and across SRP and Operational Technology teams.
• Learn and support other relevant technologies deployed within Grid Management System Infrastructure networks.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational, communication, reporting, presentation, and project leadership skills, along with a growth mindset toward advancing technical knowledge.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
