Job summary

McLane Co. is seeking a Cyber Defense Network Security Senior Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise security across on-prem and cloud environments. You will lead architecture, deployment, and optimization of security controls in a collaborative, high‑impact role.

You will mentor engineers, participate in security programs, and drive improvements in threat detection and response. This hybrid role requires near-Temple/Austin commute and strong communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in cybersecurity, IT, CS or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in network security engineering, cybersecurity operations, or related disciplines.
• Strong expertise in enterprise firewall platforms, IDS/IPS, VPNs, network segmentation and secure access architectures.
• Experience supporting incident response investigations, network forensics, and threat analysis activities.
• Knowledge of security frameworks and regulatory requirements including NIST, ISO 27001, SOX, and PCI DSS.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, WAF, VPNs, CASB, DNS filtering).
• Lead architecture, deployment, and optimization of network security controls and Zero Trust strategies.
• Establish and enforce network security standards, configurations, and best practices per policies and compliance.
• Monitor traffic, events, and threat intelligence to identify risks and emerging threats.
• Provide senior technical expertise and forensics support to incident response teams.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to ensure secure design and integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to strategic security projects.
