Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a CVD Process Engineer to drive high‑volume manufacturing excellence at a state‑of‑the‑art fab. You will troubleshoot process issues, lead experiments, and implement improvements to reduce defects, improve process control and increase throughput.

You will also contain critical events quickly, document root causes with 8D reports, and lead junior engineers while supporting technology-node transfers and new process qualification.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, Materials, or related science).
• Minimum 4 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Work days and hours: 1st Shift – Monday-Friday 8-5PM.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Equipment Engineers and Process Technicians to troubleshoot issues in a 24/7 high-volume fab.
• Design and run experiments; analyze data to reduce defects and improve process control and throughput.
• Contain critical fab quality events rapidly; document root cause via 8D and implement preventive actions.
• Provide technical leadership; mentor junior engineers and technicians; support technology-node transfers.
• Assist in setup and qualification of new processes or equipment; communicate priorities as needed.

Position Summary

A CVD Process Engineer at Samsung Austin Semiconductor drives high‑volume manufacturing excellence.

The role partners with Equipment Engineers and Process Technicians to troubleshoot process anomalies, conduct data‑driven experiments, and implement improvements that reduce defects, enhance process control, and increase throughput.

In addition to technical troubleshooting, the role requires rapid containment of critical fab quality events, use of 8D reports to drive root‑cause, and defines corrective and preventive actions to safeguard product quality.

The engineer also supplies technical leadership—training junior staff, supporting technology‑node transfers, and maintaining clear, adaptable communication that challenges assumptions and prioritizes continuous improvement.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Work with Equipment Engineers and Process Technicians to troubleshoot process issues for a 24/7 high volume manufacturing site.
• Conduct experiments and analyze data for process improvements relating to defect reduction, process control, and throughput improvement
• Respond to critical fab events that require containment speed and quick resolution to ensure minimal impact to product.
• Generate reports (such as 8D) illustrating root cause of incidents, corrective actions and future preventative measures.
• Provide technical leadership, train and mentor junior engineers and process technicians to spread knowledge and improve team efficiency
• Support technology node transfers and factory ramps through setup and qualification of new processes or equipment.
• Effectively communicate as priorities and circumstances change.
• Recognizes communication and task planning/passdowns are critical to maintaining a highly productive and team-oriented environment.
• Respectfully challenge status quo, assumptions, conclusions or quality standards to ensure correct decisions are being made.

Skills and Qualifications

Here’s what you'll need:

• BS/MS Engineering - Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or other science degree.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in Semiconductor Manufacturing with a preference for high volume manufacturing.
• Work days and hours: 1st Shift – Monday-Friday 8-5PM.
• The current base salary range for this role is between $106,000 - $145,000.
• Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience.
• Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.

The base compensation for this role will depend on education, experience, skills, and location.
