Job summary

Compass Forwarding Co., Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable Customs Entry Writer for its Import Department. The role focuses on preparing, filing, and tracking import entries while ensuring compliance with CBP and PGA regulations in a fast-paced team environment.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in customs entry writing or brokerage, strong HTSUS knowledge, and proficiency with ABI software. CargoWise experience is required. This position offers a competitive salary and benefits within the U.S.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in customs entry writing or brokerage.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, and PGA requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with CargoWise is a MUST.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file import entries in accordance with CBP regulations.
  • Review and process documentation including invoices, packing lists, and B/Ls.
  • Classify commodities under HTSUS accurately.
  • Ensure CBP and PGA compliance (FDA, USDA, EPA, DOT, etc.).
  • Coordinate with importers, carriers, and government agencies to resolve issues.
  • Maintain communication with clients regarding entry status and release updates.
  • Verify duty rates, valuation, and other regulatory requirements prior to submission.
  • Manage entry audits and post-summary corrections as needed.
