Job summary

Mountain View Regional in Las Cruces, NM, is seeking a Lead CT Technologist II to perform advanced CT imaging and support radiology services. You will ensure high quality scans, practice ALARA safety, and administer contrast per policy while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

The role requires strong PACS/RIS/EMR proficiency, collaboration with radiologists, and oversight of staff training and procedure standards to uphold regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of clinical experience acquired through an accredited radiologic sciences program required.
• 3-5 years of experience as a CT Technologist in an acute care hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs CT imaging procedures with accuracy and efficiency following established protocols to produce high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
• Prepares patients for CT exams including screening for contraindications, obtaining accurate medical history, and providing clear instructions.
• Ensures accurate patient identification, verifies physician orders, and screens patients for contraindications to the examination.
• Explains procedures clearly to patients, addressing questions to alleviate fear and anxiety, and provides instructions during and after the exam.
• Administers contrast media as ordered, following hospital policies and safety guidelines; monitors for allergic reactions and acts if necessary.
• Uses the I-Stat device to perform creatinine testing and calculates GFR for contrast studies; documents results and follows protocols.
• Assists in interventional CT procedures, including biopsies and drain placements, ensuring patient comfort and sterile technique.
• Responds to emergencies related to contrast reactions or patient condition changes, following hospital protocols with the team.
• Adheres to ALARA principles, uses shielding, and follows regulatory standards for radiation protection.
• Performs quality control checks on CT equipment, calibrations, and troubleshooting; reports malfunctions.
• Reviews imaging orders and patient history to ensure correct procedures and accurate RIS/EMR documentation.
• Maintains a stocked, clean work area and ensures CT equipment readiness; coordinates with staff and vendors on protocols.
• Trains and mentors CT technologists on protocols, equipment use, and safety practices.
