Job summary

Indiana State Police is seeking a civilian supervisor for Crime Scene Investigators and District Evidence Specialists. The role focuses on overseeing crime scene response, security, and quality assurance for district evidence management within the geographic area of responsibility.

The position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in natural science, forensic science, or criminal justice, plus CSI certification with ILEA and substantial supervisory and QA experience in forensic services.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree or higher in natural science, forensic science and/or criminal justice required.
• Five years of CSI experience may substitute for a degree.
• Completion of a department-approved CSI training program and ILEA certification required or equivalent forensic services experience.
• Must pass competency testing and annual proficiency testing as required.
• Must achieve and maintain ILEA CSI certification.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and evaluate CSIs and District Evidence Specialists within area of responsibility.
• Oversee crime scene response and ensure security, management, and QA of district evidence systems.
• Liaise with prosecutors, labs, and other agencies as needed.
• Represent the department at trainings and public appearances.
• Maintain after-hours callout roster and ensure timely evidence transfers.
• Identify staffing, equipment, and training needs; make recommendations for budgets.
