Job summary

Grand Canyon Law Group LLC is seeking an experienced criminal defense paralegal to support a growing Southern Arizona practice. The successful candidate will review and summarize discovery, manage case workflows, and draft essential pleadings under attorney supervision.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of Arizona paralegal experience, direct criminal defense exposure, and strong client communication skills. Familiarity with local procedures and bilingual abilities are valued.

Qualifications

• Certificate of completion from an accredited paralegal program.
• Minimum of two years of paralegal experience in an Arizona law firm.
• Direct criminal defense experience required.
• Felony criminal case experience required.
• Misdemeanor criminal case experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage significant client communication with professionalism and empathy.
• Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and legal case management software.

Responsibilities

• Review, organize, and summarize criminal case discovery, including various reports and footage.
• Identify missing, incomplete, or outstanding disclosure and follow up as needed.
• Draft and prepare legal documents under attorney supervision (Notices of Appearance, Discovery requests, Motions, subpoenas).
• Assist attorneys with felony and misdemeanor case preparation and management.
• Prepare discovery summaries, timelines, witness information, and case status updates.
• Calendar court dates, deadlines, hearings, and follow-up tasks; monitor docket activity.
• Coordinate with attorneys, courts, prosecutors, law enforcement, experts, clients, and staff.
