This role is critical in protecting company assets, developing and leading a high-performing credit team, supporting profitable sales growth, and optimizing return on receivables.The Senior Credit Manager provides strategic and day-to-day leadership for credit and collection activities in alignment with company policies and assigned authority. This position requires a strong balance of financial judgment, risk management, business partnership, and people leadership.The Senior Credit Manager is also responsible for key people-management activities, including coaching and developing associates, supporting performance management, workforce planning, associate engagement, and partnering with Human Resources on employee-related matters as appropriate.This position is responsible for managing a portfolio of accounts receivable of up to $400 million, requiring strong financial judgment, leadership, and cross-functional partnership.This position is based in Tamarac, FL with responsibility spanning all KOBs, including Blended, Waterworks, HVAC, and FacilitiesResponsibilitiesProvide leadership and oversight for credit, collections, and accounts receivable activities across the assigned marketLead, coach, develop, and engage credit team members to support business objectives and associate growthEstablish clear expectations and provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and development for team membersSupport performance management and employee development processes, partnering with Human Resources and leadership as appropriateParticipate in workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, training, and development of team membersPromote a positive, collaborative, and accountable team environmentSupport associate engagement, retention, and succession planning within the credit organizationPartner with Human Resources on employee relations and other people-related matters as appropriateEvaluate and approve credit applications, credit limits, and account changes based on financial and risk analysisMonitor customer balances, aging, and portfolio performance and ensure appropriate action is taken on delinquent or high-risk accountsDevelop and execute effective collection and risk-management strategiesReview and manage credit limits, lien rights, and other risk mitigation measures to protect company interestsHandle complex, high-risk, or exception accounts requiring advanced judgment or escalationManage bad debt exposure, including recovery efforts and legal escalation when necessaryResolve complex credit and collection disputes in partnership with sales teams, customers, and other stakeholdersPartner with sales and business leadership to develop credit solutions that balance customer needs, growth opportunities, and acceptable riskStructure credit solutions, including joint check agreements, for project-based accounts as appropriateMaintain strong partnerships with branch and sales leadership through regular communication, branch interaction, and customer visitsEnsure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and internal controls related to credit and collectionsMonitor portfolio trends and credit performance to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvementCommunicate significant credit risks, portfolio concerns, and business opportunities to appropriate leadershipQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field preferredProgressive experience in Credit, Collections, Accounts Receivable, or a related financial disciplinePrevious leadership or people-management experience strongly preferredExperience coaching and developing associates and supporting employee performanceStrong analytical and financial decision-making skills with sound business judgmentExperience evaluating credit risk and managing complex or high-value account portfoliosStrong understanding of financial statement analysisKnowledge of collection strategies and executionUnderstanding of secondary security concepts and risk mitigation strategiesKnowledge of Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) fundamentalsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively partner across functionsAbility to influence and collaborate with sales, branch, finance, and business leadershipStrong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environmentUnderstanding of sales processes and the relationship between credit management and profitable growthProficiency with applicable enterprise and vendor systemsBenefitsAt Ferguson, we care for each other.
