Job summary

ConnectOne Bank in Melville, NY seeks a Senior Credit Analyst to assess creditworthiness of new loan proposals and monitor existing credits, ensuring asset quality and compliance with policy. The role involves preparing analyses, providing structured recommendations for approvals, and mentoring junior analysts within a collaborative lending team.

You will work with Commercial Loan Officers and Portfolio Managers to strengthen underwriting standards and support the Bank’s customer-centric

Qualifications

• Credit training or coursework related to lending.
• C&I credit experience is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of loan types and loan structures.

About this role:

The Senior Credit Analyst is responsible for the written analysis and underwriting of the credit worthiness of new loan proposals as well as existing loans, identifying credit policy exceptions and other credit issues in order to identify and protect the asset quality of the Bank’s commercial loans.

In this role you will:

• Support the Bank’s “People First” focus and rules of engagement—maintaining a professional demeanor, working as an active member of the CNOB team, providing all clients excellent service, always striving to make CNOB “A Better Place to Be”.
• Prepare credit analyses for loan requests including financial statement analysis, collateral analysis (including third party reports), risk rating recommendations, trend analysis, and identifying the proposed credit’s strengths and weaknesses.
• Prepare written recommendations as to whether proposed loans should be approved as presented; or provide alternate loan structure recommendations as appropriate.
• Prepare financial statement spreadsheets which include a measurement of various financial ratio trends to evaluate financial status.
• Assist the Commercial Loan Officers and Portfolio Managers with the completion of annual loan reviews, as required.
• Mentor and guide Credit Analysts and Junior Credit Analysts.
• Assist in the annual financial statement follow-up to borrowers; track and monitor the Bank’s receipt of this information.
• Order flood search as appropriate.
