Job summary

New York Life is seeking a Senior Creative Technologist to define a design-to-development model for NYL360. You will implement front-end code directly from design intents, collaborating with engineering and a development partner to establish standards, workflows and quality gates.

The role requires 5+ years in front-end or UX engineering, strong HTML/CSS/JS skills, WCAG accessibility knowledge, and experience with design-to-code processes, version control, and external partners.

Qualifications

• Education & Experience: Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in front-end development, or UX engineering role.
• Technical Skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks; design tools and handoff processes; component-driven design; WCAG accessibility; version control (Git/GitHub).
• Soft Skills: problem solving, communication, collaboration with design/engineering and external partners.
• Preferred: design system experience, AI-assisted workflows (Claude Code/Claude Design, Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Front-End Implementation: Build and maintain responsive front-end code from design intent.
• Operating Model Execution: Define workflow for design-originated contributions.
• Code Quality & Review: Establish production-ready criteria and review gates.
• Repository & Workflow: Work in NYL360's GitHub repo with engineering and partners.
• Collaboration with Development: Align design specs with engineers and partners.
• Documentation & Annotation: Define annotations for design-authored code.
• Accessibility & Performance: Ensure WCAG compliance and performance across devices.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Bridge design, engineering and vendors for best UX.
• Research & Innovation: Stay current on AI-assisted design-to-code tools.
• Quality Assurance: Participate in code/design reviews and testing.
