Job summary

AMD is seeking a data scientist and performance engineer to own the quantitative forecasting system for the CAP team in Austin, TX. You will merge architecture assumptions, workload measurements, software trends, and partner data to produce forward-looking predictions with explicit confidence ranges.

You will manage model error, scenario analysis, and a clear competitive narrative. You will be responsible for designing experiments, building visualizations, and communicating results to engineers

Qualifications

• Experience building quantitative models under uncertainty.
• Strong Python/data-analysis skills.
• Understanding CPU/system performance and causality.
• Experience with reproducible data pipelines and versioning.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain a forecasting framework linking CPU architecture, memory, I/O, power, OS, and workloads.
• Create forecasts with confidence ranges for performance, efficiency, and TCO.
• Develop scenarios for uncertain competitor attributes and platform power.
• Track forecast errors by workload and model version; tune the model as data becomes available.
• Produce executive-ready visualizations of deltas and forecast history.
• Write quarterly forecast narratives and enable rapid recalibration with new evidence.
