Job summary

Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to lead the organization’s legal affairs, including governance, contracts, risk management, and compliance globally. The role focuses on providing timely advisory services to minimize liability and support strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. and is DC Bar admitted with 7+ years of nonprofit legal experience, exceptional negotiation, and strong communication skills to partner with leadership and the Board in

Qualifications

J.D. degree required with 7+ years of professional nonprofit experience in operations and enterprise risk management.
Member of the D.C. Bar.
Experience in nonprofit governance, risk management, and compliance across various jurisdictions.
Experience providing legal counsel to a Board of Directors, including drafting corporate policies, bylaws, minutes, agendas, and resolutions.
Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with ability to interface with all levels of the organization and external parties.

Responsibilities

Operational Oversight: review and update procurement policies and contract processes.
Contract Oversight: review and advise on all contract terms ensuring alignment with mission and regulatory requirements.
Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: develop and implement risk management programs for US and international compliance.
Board Support: serve as Secretary of the Board by preparing minutes and resolutions.
