UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas seeks an experienced Senior Counsel to lead a team of nurse risk managers within the Office of Legal Affairs, handling a high volume of patient complaints and grievances in compliance with federal and state laws.

Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Medical Risk Management, this attorney-leader will assess matters at the pre-litigation stage and advise leadership on risk reduction and potential claims.

Qualifikationen

• J.D. degree required.
• At least 5 years practicing attorney experience in medical malpractice, personal injury, risk management, or health law.
• Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; Texas admission required within 6 months of hire.

Aufgaben

• Directly supervises and develops nurse risk managers handling patient complaints and grievances.
• Assess complaints and grievances, applying legal defenses and risk reduction strategies to resolve potential claims.
• Collaborates with clinical staff and management to identify and mitigate risk and ensure CMS compliance.
• Serves as senior legal advisor on medical risk management matters and policy guidance.
• Participates in medical committees and provides training on professional liability and risk reduction.
