Job summary

Qualifications

• Significant experience with legal aspects of private fund investments, direct investments, real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and/or corporate finance
• In-depth collaboration, facilitation, and strategic and creative thinking
• Proven team player with strong interpersonal communication skills, including negotiation and education
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating broad corporate and fund-related agreements including private funds, direct investments, and related instruments
• Advanced written communication and ability to present to senior leaders and technical experts

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on highly complex corporate transactional, finance, operations, and investment matters for UC Investments
• Structure, document, and negotiate legal matters on behalf of The Regents and UC Investments in various transactions
• Coordinate with UC campuses on startups and equity-related matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including services and data agreements
• Establish and test legal/compliance policies and train staff
• Assist in due diligence and manage deal processes and execution
• Attend Investments Committee meetings on behalf of the General Counsel
