Job summary

UFG Insurance seeks a Corporate Counsel to advise on commercial insurance product development, underwriting strategy, regulatory matters, and compliance initiatives. The role supports product innovation and business growth with legal guidance on rates, forms, and policy language.

Remote work is possible; hybrid arrangement may be available for candidates near regional offices. Requires JD and active bar in any U.S. state, with 5+ years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission in any U.S. state.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant legal experience in insurance regulatory compliance and product development.
• Extensive knowledge of property and casualty insurance products and regulatory frameworks.
• In-house experience with a commercial lines carrier is preferred but not required.
• Strong relationship-building and collaboration across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop insurance policy language, coverage enhancements and manuscript endorsements.
• Partner with underwriting and product teams to design, revise and launch compliant products.
• Monitor underwriting operations to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide practical, risk-based legal guidance balancing regulatory compliance and business objectives.
• Develop and deliver internal training on insurance compliance requirements.
• Review marketing materials for regulatory and legal standards.
