Barnes & Thornburg in San Diego seeks an experienced litigation Counsel with substantial drug, medical device, and product liability experience to manage complex matters from inception through resolution. The ideal candidate will draft pleadings, motions and discovery, coordinate with experts, and mentor junior attorneys while delivering high-quality work with sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.

CA bar in good standing and 8+ years of relevant experience required; MDL experience a plus;

Qualifications

• J.D. and admission to state bar in good standing.
• 8+ years in drug, medical device, consumer product, product liability, or related complex litigation.
• Strong writing, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to independently manage significant litigation responsibilities.
• Experience with federal/state court litigation; MDL experience a plus.
• CA state court trial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage significant aspects of complex drug, medical device, consumer product and/or product liability matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop and execute litigation strategies with partners and clients.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, memoranda, and other substantive work product.
• Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, oral arguments, mediations, and other proceedings.
• Analyze scientific, medical, technical, and factual evidence for persuasive arguments.
• Manage discovery and coordinate with eDiscovery professionals and vendors.
• Work with expert witnesses and consultants on case development and testimony.
• Communicate with clients regarding status, strategy, and risks.
• Supervise, mentor and delegate to associates and other legal professionals.
