Job summary

Solutus Legal Search is assisting a rapidly growing AI healthcare company in recruiting a Senior Counsel, Commercial. This role sits as the company’s second lawyer, reporting to the General Counsel, and offers ownership of a developing legal function in a high-growth environment.

You will draft and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, advise business teams, and help build scalable templates and playbooks, including AI-enabled workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of legal experience with substantial commercial contracting and business counseling.
• Technology, SaaS, or fast-moving company experience preferred.
• Healthcare, health tech, life sciences, or regulated-industry experience preferred but not required; privacy/data/HIPAA exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and manage broad commercial agreements including vendor, partner, technology, data, and other strategic agreements.
• Advise business teams with clear, practical guidance to move deals quickly.
• Build scalable contract templates, playbooks, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Own core platform terms, privacy notices, and customer-facing agreements.
• Support privacy, data, and healthcare regulatory matters with the General Counsel.
• Flex into product counseling, AI governance, and corporate matters as needed.

Our client, one of the fastest-growing AI companies in healthcare, backed by Thrive Capital, General Catalyst, and Bain Capital Ventures, has exclusively retained Solutus Legal Search to assist in its search for a Senior Counsel, Commercial. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this attorney will be the company’s second lawyer and a key partner in building a legal function that keeps pace with extraordinary growth.

The company is building the AI-powered network that connects doctors, pharmacies, payers, and biopharma so patients can get the medicines they need faster, more easily, and at lower cost. Already used by thousands of medical practices across all 50 states and partnering with many of the world’s leading biopharma companies, it is on a mission to make science, not paperwork, the only limit to medicine.

This is a rare opportunity for a practical, business-minded commercial attorney to take real ownership at a company with a meaningful mission. You’ll work closely with the General Counsel and teams across the business, handle a broad range of commercial matters, and help shape the agreements, playbooks, and processes the company will scale on. Healthcare experience is a plus, but strong commercial attorneys from other industries who are excited to learn the healthcare landscape are encouraged to apply.

• Serve as a trusted advisor to business teams, providing clear, practical guidance that helps deals move quickly.
• Build scalable contract templates, playbooks, and workflows, including through the use of AI tools.
• Own the company’s core platform terms, privacy notices, and other customer-facing agreements.
• Support privacy, data, and healthcare regulatory matters in partnership with the General Counsel.
• Flex into other priorities as the company grows, including product counseling, AI governance, and corporate matters.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5+ years of legal experience, with substantial commercial contracting and business counseling experience; more senior candidates will also be considered.
• Law firm and/or in-house experience at a technology, SaaS, or other fast-moving company.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills and the ability to independently handle complex commercial matters.
• Healthcare, health tech, life sciences, or other regulated-industry experience is preferred but not required; experience with privacy, data, or HIPAA is a plus.
• Sound business judgment and a low-ego, proactive style, with enthusiasm for a high-growth environment.
• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.

This is an in-office role based in the company’s SoHo office in New York City. The anticipated base salary range is $250,000 to $305,000, plus equity and benefits; actual compensation will depend on experience and qualifications.
