Job summary

JPMorganChase in New York seeks a senior attorney to join the Bankruptcy & Restructuring Legal Team supporting the Commercial and Investment Bank in insolvency matters and restructurings. The role offers visibility across the Legal department and close collaboration with senior business leaders to devise strategies and pragmatic risk solutions.

You will handle federal and state insolvency proceedings, advise on all bank products affected by distress, and coordinate with internal teams while

Qualifications

Licensed attorney with at least 10 years of legal experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience advising banks and lending institutions in insolvency practice.
Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with the Legal team.
Willing to complete conflicts of interest clearance prior to employment.
Experience with cross-border insolvencies, including Chapter 15, is a plus.

Responsibilities

Advise Special Credits and partners on out-of-court restructurings, liability management transactions, and related agreements.
Oversee court proceedings under the Federal Bankruptcy Code, including cash management, DIP financings, automatic stay issues, asset sales, and plan confirmation.
Provide counsel on cross-border insolvencies, including Chapter 15 and state court insolvencies.
Collaborate with Litigation, Credit Trading, and Line of Business Legal teams on the above.
Manage external counsel as required.
