Partnering with a global Project & Cost Management company looking for a Cost Manager to join the team in NYC.
They are looking for an experienced and proactive Senior Cost Manager / Quantity Surveyor to join the team and play a key role in delivering high-quality construction projects. This is an exciting opportunity to lead cost management services across the full project lifecycle while working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead cost management and quantity surveying services from pre-construction through project closeout
- Develop and manage cost estimates, budgets, cost plans, and bid documentation across all design and construction phases
- Provide value engineering and cost analysis to support efficient and cost-effective project delivery
- Advise project teams during design development to ensure alignment with approved budgets
- Manage procurement and tendering processes, including bid preparation, evaluation, and contractor recommendations
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, contractor negotiations, and contract awards
- Monitor project financial performance, including change orders, cost tracking, cash flow, and forecasting
- Prepare clear and concise cost reports for clients and stakeholders
- Review contractor change orders and negotiate cost impacts where neededEvaluate and process contractor and consultant payment applications
- Support final account negotiations and project closeout activities
- Provide commercial insight and financial guidance to support decision-making
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams
- Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to team growth and knowledge sharing
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Cost Estimating, or a related field
- 5–10 years of experience in construction cost estimating across a variety of building types
- Strong experience across all design phases (conceptual through construction documents)
- Familiarity with CSI formats and estimating for architectural, structural, and civil components (MEP experience is a plus)
- Professional certifications such as AACE or Certified Cost Professional (preferred)
- Strong understanding of cost management principles and project delivery
- Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in industry estimating software and Microsoft Office tools
