Job summary

Jobtailor in Newport News, VA seeks a cost estimator to join our manufacturing/engineering cost team. You will assess labor and material costs using RFP data, analyze specifications and blueprints, and build cost models to support proposals and pricing decisions.

You will collaborate with procurement, engineering, and project teams to ensure accurate cost reporting. The ideal candidate has a strong background in cost estimation, BOM analysis, and data-driven cost modeling, with experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher with combination of education and exempt experience in cost estimation.
• Experience estimating labor and material costs for manufacturing/engineering.
• Ability to analyze RFP data, specs, drawings, BOMs, and sample layouts.
• Ability to collect cost data from functional reps, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Ability to prepare and maintain historical cost data and create cost models.
• Ability to prepare cost reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Estimate labor and material costs of manufacturing and engineering based on RFP data.
• Analyze specifications, sketches, blueprints, BOMs, and sample layouts.
• Calculate production costs using pricing schedules and historical data.
• Collect cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Prepare and maintain historical cost data and create cost models.
• Prepare cost reports and present findings to management, contract personnel, proposal coordinators, customers, auditors, vendors, and subcontractors.
