Job summary

Metra's Capital Delivery Department in Chicago is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator responsible for developing and coordinating cost policies and estimates across the capital program. You will manage budgets, baselines, and PMIS-based costing, train staff, and ensure accurate documentation while tracking cost issues and potential overruns.

This role requires strong analytical abilities and experience with Earned Value management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum seven years of cost estimating experience.
• Knowledge of estimating and cost management best practices.
• Knowledge of Earned Value Management.

Responsibilities

• Manage cost and estimating plans, processes, and budget/forecast for all Capital Delivery Program projects.
• Monitor milestones and ensure estimates are updated; document processes.
• Oversee cost estimates and baselines; approve estimates for charters.
• Lead PMIS adoption for costing; train users and maintain materials.
