Job summary

Acuity International in the United States is seeking a Senior Cost Consultant to lead cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, and to guide project teams toward on-time, within-budget delivery.

You will mentor staff, maintain schedules, support development, and uphold corporate mission and values across engineering and construction domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 10+ years of relevant experience.
• US Citizenship is required.
• CCP certification from AACE International or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of capital and services cost, scope change management, and project controls.
• Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint with strong communication skills.

• Assists in developing and implementing cost recording, reporting, and analysis standards.
• Assists in preparing cost data for projects, proposals and contract negotiations.
• Assist with scope change management.
• Determines scope definition requirements for a discipline and coordinates data for estimates.
• Develops quantity takeoffs and applies unit rates to estimates.
• Prepares specific budgets and coordinates cost reports.
• Collects and classifies cost engineering data and performs data analysis.
• Performs other duties as directed by the Project Manager / Supervisor / Manager.

Job Description

The Senior Cost Consultant performs cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed. The Senior Cost Consultant leads quality control reviews and maintains relationships with project personnel, particularly with individual discipline group leaders and engineers and provides technical direction to assigned personnel, when delegated. This individual will maintain relationships with project personnel, particularly with individual discipline group leaders and engineers. The Senior Cost Consultant leads project team members and is responsible for maintaining project schedule and achieving project goals. They are responsible for supporting the professional development of other staff. Exemplify, support, and uphold the Company’s stated mission and values.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in developing and implementing requirements for cost recording, reporting, and analyzing standards, programs, and reports.
• Assists in preparing cost data for projects, proposals and contract negotiations.
• Assist with scope change management.
• Determines scope definition requirements for a discipline or other specialty and works with Engineering and other sources to coordinate the production of required data to conform to the overall estimate preparation plan.
• Develops quantity takeoffs for a discipline or specialty using defined documents or undefined scope assumptions. Verifies quantities provided by others.
• Develops and applies unit rates (cost and job hours) to quantity takeoffs and to otherwise developed quantities within a discipline or other specialty.
• Prepares specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
• Prepare and coordinate cost reports.
• Collects and classifies cost engineering data.
• Performs data analysis and development.
• Performs any other duties as directed by the Project Manager / Supervisor / Manager

Qualifications and Skills

• Candidate must be a US Citizen
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field of study (Architectural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering discipline preferred) and 10+ years of relevant experience in related industry.
• Possess Certified Cost Professional certification from AACE International or similar certification required. May include: CCP-AACE, CEP-AACE, or CPE-ASPE certification.
• Knowledge in capital cost and services cost.
• Knowledge of scope change management.
• Intermediate level of knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction systems, and startup work processes.
• Proficiency in using multiple discipline-specific software applications.
• Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to cost problems.
• Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes, and understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data).
• Knowledge in the use of computers and several basic software applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint for executing work processes
• Skilled in oral and written communication.
• Strong communication, leadership and organization skills.

Physical Requirements

• Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• Work may involve walking, climbing on construction sites
• Work may involve ability to travel up to 25%
