Job summary

Tokio Marine HCC is a leading specialty insurer with a strong global presence and a focus on stop loss and other advanced insurance products. We seek an experienced underwriter to review high-dollar proposals, set appropriate rates, and guide regional teams in risk assessment and decision-making.

You will audit quotations and renewals, training colleagues and maintaining underwriting guidelines to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance.

Qualifications

  • 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 8 Years Relevant and progressive experience; management experience preferred in Stop Loss underwriting.
  • Advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in underwriting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Superior organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Review and audit underwriting proposals to ensure compliance with guidelines.
  • Set rates and factor levels based on risk acceptability.
  • Direct day-to-day underwriting activities for regional teams as needed.
  • Educate and train colleagues on underwriting duties and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain Underwriting Manual guidelines.

Ensures that underwriting recommendations and decisions are effective and appropriate for the protection of the financial assets of the company and the carrierKey ResponsibilitiesEvaluate risk acceptability within established corporate guidelines and set appropriate rates and factor levels.Perform audits on a percentage of all quotations, new business and renewal cases produced by each region to insure compliance with underwriting guidelines.Perform audits on cases with aggregate claims in excess of determined percentage as established in corporate guidelines.May direct the day-to-day underwriting of the underwriters on regional teams.
