Job summary

Amazon's legal department is seeking a seasoned litigator to manage our worldwide portfolio of commercial and consumer litigation, including stockholder disputes, class actions, and large multi-billion dollar cases. You will advise business leaders on litigation risks and develop strategies for the most complex matters in our portfolio.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of post-bar admission legal experience.
  • Juris Doctor and bar membership in one state required.
  • Experience as a primary strategist on complex litigation with independent case theory.
  • Experience developing novel legal arguments that changed outcomes.
  • Knowledge of AI ethics in a legal setting (confidentiality, accuracy, bias).

Key job responsibilities

  • Advising attorneys and business leaders on litigation risks and novel legal issues
  • Managing a portfolio of complex litigation and working closely with outside counsel to develop and implement litigation strategies
  • Identifying and mitigating legal risks to help avoid future litigation

Basic Qualifications
  • 10+ years of post bar admission legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
  • Experience as a primary strategist on complex litigation including independently developing case theory, making high-stakes judgment calls, and driving outcomes without close supervision
  • Experience developing novel or creative legal arguments that changed case outcomes
  • Knowledge of the ethical considerations surrounding AI in the legal context, such as confidentiality, accuracy, and bias prevention
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience handling class-action defense litigation across multiple matters, including Rule 23 class certification
  • Experience working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization or equivalent
  • Experience in Securities Law
  • Experience in Technology Law
  • Experience working independently and directly with all levels of legal and business partners or equivalent
