Xcel Energy, a leading energy company, seeks an experienced attorney to provide legal counsel and manage outside counsel for routine and complex matters in multiple jurisdictions.

The role involves advising on policy, regulation, and strategic issues, with opportunities to influence business decisions and corporate governance. A JD and bar admission are required, with 3–6 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from ABA accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice, or able to be licensed on reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares or reviews routine contracts, pleadings, briefs and other documents.
• Provides counsel to employees on legal, business, legislation, regulation and strategic matters.
• Represents Xcel Energy in courts, regulatory agencies and other adjudicatory or adversarial proceedings.
• Provides opinions on policy questions and legal implications of Xcel Energy operations.
