Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) seeks a Core Java Software Engineer to support an IT enterprise. You will develop secure, scalable Java APIs, configure LDAP-based security, and deploy applications on Tomcat with proper SSL/TLS handling. The role emphasizes collaboration with stakeholders and strong problem-solving.

Location is Chantilly, VA on customer site. The ideal candidate has extensive Java experience, LDAP expertise, and familiarity with PKI, OpenSSL, and database tooling.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Core Java development (Java 17+), JSP, HTML/JS/CSS, and REST API design.
• Extensive LDAP authentication/authorization experience and custom LDAP solutions.
• Linux system administration, SSH-based tooling, and shell scripting.
• Experience deploying and configuring Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server connectors.
• Database experience with MariaDB/MySQL and JDBC-based data access.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Core Java applications, ensuring secure, scalable API services.
• Design and implement JDBC/DAO patterns, manage database connectivity and pooling.
• Configure and deploy on Apache Tomcat, manage Tomcat connectors and HTTPD integration.
• Implement front-end interactions with JSP, AJAX, jQuery, and JavaScript.
• Work with PKI/cryptography, TLS, and certificate handling for secure communications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust software solutions.
