Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient working with numbers.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Study grant sponsor policies to guide faculty, trainees and staff.
  • Assemble, complete and submit grant applications and progress reports.
  • Enter required proposal data into Baylor's electronic grant tracking system (BRAIN) and ensure on-time submission.
  • Keep BRAIN and compliance information current during the life of funded grants.
  • Work with peers at collaborating institutions to provide documents and budgets for cross institution grant proposal submissions.
  • Monitor the review status of submitted grant applications and coordinate processes to establish financial accounts for awarded grants.
  • Initiate and complete all processes to establish and maintain grant subcontracts, including purchase order creation and invoice tracking and payment.
  • Monitor researchers' compliance training to avoid lapses.
  • Initiate and facilitate grant carry forward and no cost extension requests.
  • Maintain records for each grant application, including submitted documents, funding status, communication with sponsor, etc.
  • Request and maintain grant sponsor credentials for department personnel (For example NIH Commons ID's). Maintain other support documents for faculty and other researchers as needed.
  • Actively and consistently communicate grant funding and other grant information to the department financial team and department administrator.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Title: Senior Coordinator, Research Administration Division: Biochemistry Work Arrangement: Hybrid Location: Houston, TX Salary Range: $57,320 - $67,435 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Research Administration who is organized, independent, responsible, and highly motivated. The department is home to a productive faculty and staff dedicated to conducting internationally recognized biomedical research and educating the next generation of scientists. The Senior Coordinator, Research Administration will facilitate several aspects of grant development, submission and management. The successful candidate will direct report to the department administrator with a secondary (dotted line) reporting relationship to the senior financial analyst.

The Senior Coordinator, Research Administration will collaborate with researchers, admin team colleagues and Baylor's central grants offices to assure responsible, efficient and compliant grant submission and management. This position is for an independent, self motivated individual with excellent organizational and communication skills. There will be additional opportunities to learn grant accounting and other aspects of department financial processes.

Job Duties
  • Study grant sponsor policies and procedures and become a knowledge source for department faculty, trainees and staff.
  • Assemble, complete and submit grant applications and progress reports to federal, state, and private sponsors. This includes preparation of grant budgets.
  • Enter required proposal data into Baylor's electronic grant tracking system (BRAIN) and ensure the on-time submission of applications by their deadlines.
