Job Summary & Objectives

The Senior Coordinator, Communications will support the Communications team within Simpson Thacher's Client Development & Engagement (\"CDE\") Department in executing initiatives that raise the profile of the Firm's practices, partners and strategic priorities. This role provides hands-on coordination, research, drafting, tracking and project support across media relations, thought leadership, awards and rankings, social media, website content, events-related communications and other CDE initiatives. In this role, you'll work closely with members of the Communications team, the broader CDE Department and colleagues across the Firm to help develop and execute timely, accurate and high-quality communications initiatives and materials. You will also play an important role in the Firm's awards function, developing award submissions for practices and partners. You'll help keep workstreams organized, support stakeholder coordination and contribute to content that advances the Firm's client development, engagement and brand objectives.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work with the Communications team and broader CDE Department to support and help advance initiatives that raise the profile of the Firm's practices and partners through media engagement, contributed content and thought leadership
  • Contribute to media outreach efforts by helping to identify and promote newsworthy transactions and litigation matters, and coordinating outreach execution across appropriate channels
  • Support and help manage the development and submission of bylined articles and other contributed content, including coordinating draft review, tracking timelines and overseeing submission requirements and publication agreements
  • Assist in preparing award submissions and survey responses, including coordinating inputs, tracking deadlines and ensuring high-quality, timely submissions
  • Monitor for relevant media and speaking opportunities and assist in preparing background materials, briefing notes and talking points for partners
  • Conduct research and develop materials on prospective and confirmed speakers at Firm events, including synthesizing public commentary, media coverage and thought leadership into usable summaries
  • Track, analyze and maintain data related to the Firm's press coverage; regularly compile reports and conduct media sweeps to support ongoing Communications initiatives
  • Monitor newswires, media outlets and industry publications and proactively flag relevant developments, trends and coverage opportunities to the team
  • Support and help maintain website content, partner biographies and other CDE and communications materials, ensuring accuracy and consistency across channels
  • Coordinate the development of marketing and promotional collateral (e.g., advertisements, social content), managing timelines and liaising with the Graphic Design team and external vendors as needed
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the CDE Department and other Firm functions to support cross-functional initiatives and content development
  • Perform other duties as needed
Skills & Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in communications, public relations, marketing, business development or a professional services environment
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and navigate differing priorities and perspectives
  • Solid critical thinking skills, with the ability to contribute to communications plans and support the execution of scalable processes and workflows
  • Comfort learning and using communications, marketing and related technologies, including AI-enabled tools where appropriate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise and audience-appropriate content
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to research, track, interpret and report on data to support Communications initiatives
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a willingness to identify issues, suggest improvements and take initiative within scope
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills to make sound decisions, provide solutions or recommendations and escalation as appropriate
  • Ability to build professional relationships across the Firm while maintaining a high level of client service, diplomacy and discretion
  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel, as well as marketing technologies
Preferred
  • Coursework or degree concentration in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or a related field preferred
  • Prior experience in communications, marketing or business development at a law firm or professional services organization preferred
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools, CRM systems, website platforms, experience databases, or related marketing technologies preferred

Salary Information

NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

This role is non-exempt meaning it is overtime pay eligible. Simpson Thacher will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
