Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Coordinating Architect to oversee design criteria, schedules, and cost estimates for major capital projects, from $35k to $20M. You will supervise contracted consultants and in-house staff, ensure compliance with specifications and budget, and liaise with City Council and CPS departments.

Responsibilities include ADA updates, CPS Design Standards, and data systems for capital projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field required.
• Professional Architect (RA) license in Illinois required.
• Minimum 5 years of professional architectural experience on major projects.
• Minimum 3 years of supervising architectural work and projects.
• Experience with City of Chicago and multiple departments required.
• Experience on commercial, industrial and K-12 educational projects.
• Experience with green, sustainable and LEED projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervise planning and design staff (contracted consultants) and in-house team.
• Review design plans for compliance with specifications and funding guidelines.
• Conduct site visits to monitor progress and schedules.
• Represent CPS in City Council, Buildings and Zoning meetings, and forums.
• Prepare reports on project life cycles for leadership.
• Lead ADA updates and CPS Design Standards reviews.
• Oversee furniture contracts and installation.
