Role Description

The Senior Controls & Software Integration Engineer is a full-time, hybrid role based in Michigan, United States, with flexibility for partial work from home. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and integrating control and embedded software systems for electric boat platforms, ensuring seamless operation of propulsion, power management, and onboard systems. Day-to-day tasks include implementing and testing software features, configuring interfaces between hardware and software components, diagnosing and resolving system issues, and supporting continuous integration pipelines. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering, to refine requirements, validate performance on test benches and vessels, and document designs and test results. The role also involves contributing to process improvements, mentoring team members, and supporting product launches and field deployments.

Qualifications
  • Strong skills in Software Development and Embedded Software for real-time control systems and hardware interfaces.
  • Experience with Software Integration, including integrating multiple subsystems, APIs, and communication protocols.
  • Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex system interactions, diagnostics, and root-cause analysis in embedded and control environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Continuous Integration, automated testing, and version control tools for software deployment.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with control systems, power electronics, or automotive/marine propulsion systems is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
