Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Systems/ Software Engineer to develop components and systems for vehicle programs within the infotainment domain. You will own Google apps and audio features, coordinate with suppliers, and drive issue resolution and vehicle-level testing.

The role requires a Bachelor's in CS/Engineering and 2 years in system/software engineering, with exposure to Android, cybersecurity, and related automotive infotainment areas.

DUTIES

Utilize engineering tools and processes to successfully develop components and systems for vehicle programs. Implement functional strategy, administer and coordinate programs, and counsel and advise management. Own Goggle apps and settings, Terms and Condition, and Audio reception features within the infotainment system and serves as subject matter expert for these features. Work with internal and external suppliers to make sure that program deliverables are defined and issues are resolved in a timely manner. Identify, track, and facilitate external development dependencies with other teams. Perform comprehensive issue identification, triage, including initial assessment, prioritization, creating and assignment of defects, and conduct root cause analysis to determine underlying technical issues affecting infotainment performance. Create and lead vehicle level test and development programs to evaluate and calibrate the performance of infotainment features. Work with cross functional teams to triage issues and assist in communicating status of open issues to management. Support management reviews and provide regular status updates to leadership teams. Bridge multiple disciplines, including Engineering, Information Technology, Technical Support, and Marketing, to make appropriate system-level design trade-offs and to identify, capture, and refine system requirements and to identify innovation opportunities. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study. Two (2) years of experience as a System Engineer, Software Engineer, or related occupation. Two (2) years of experience with the following: Software Development Life Cycle, including Systems engineering, integration and testing in related domains; Domains critical to infotainment systems, such as wireless communication, Navigation, embedded software development, over the air software updates, cybersecurity, client-server solutions, web services, and in-vehicle hardware; Performing diagnostic and investigating issues based on limited information; Android platform, including Android framework and architecture; and Automotive infotainment systems, including Navigation, GPS, Bluetooth, USB, Speech Recognition, Microphones, Hands-free Processing and Audio Management, Displays and HMI, Camera and Video Management, AM/FM/XM Receivers/Tuners, Internet Radio, Cyber Security, Media Players, System and Power Management, Phone, Data Carrier, and Data Downloads.
