Job summary

magniX is hiring a Controls/Firmware Engineer in Everett, WA, to develop an 800V battery-based power supply and backup system for datacenter racks. You will tie the battery management system, power converter, and IT power management together, designing charge/discharge control and fault handling.

You will work with cross-functional teams to define interfaces, implement control algorithms, and support test activities in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in embedded controls or firmware for power systems.
• Experience with real-time control of power converters or battery management systems.
• Proficiency in embedded C/C++ and familiarity with CANbus, Modbus, or similar protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement control algorithms for battery charge/discharge management, converter operation, and mode transitions (grid-tied, UPS/backup, islanded).
• Develop fault detection, protection, and graceful-degradation logic across the battery, converter, and rack interface.
• Implement communication protocols to interface with datacenter power and IT management systems (e.g., Modbus, CANbus, PMBus, Redfish).
• Collaborate with Power Electronics and Battery Systems Engineers to define control interfaces and timing requirements.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop and system-level test activities.
