Job summary

Mission Design & Automation is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead controls projects from concept through startup. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate across departments, and own design and documentation of automated equipment.

The role requires hands-on technical leadership, strong communication, and the ability to drive projects within scope, budget, and schedule. Some travel (approx. 25%) is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, electrical and pneumatic design, and MS Office.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, and training staff.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to travel about 25% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and documentation of controls systems for automated equipment.
• Mentor, coach, and train entry level Controls Engineers.
• Communicate project progress with all departments.
• Support quoting by inputting concepts, hours, and material costs.
• Ensure projects meet scope, timing, and budget.
• Coordinate machine debugging, power up, and validation.
• Document and communicate machine changes and issues.
