Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec Engineering in Columbia, MD, seeks a Sr. Controls Engineer to lead automation projects across industries. You will deliver PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA solutions with direct customer interaction and close teamwork.

The role requires architectural design of control systems, component selection, schematic development, PLC programming, and hands-on testing, commissioning, and qualification at client sites. Leadership experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 6–15+ years of experience preferred.
• Experience with PLC, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, Iconics Genesis64, Wonderware System Platform, GE Cimplicity, GE iFIX, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor project teams delivering automation solutions.
• Design control system architectures and select components.
• Develop schematics and program PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA; perform testing, commissioning, and qualification at client sites.
• Possess strong problem-solving and customer interaction skills.
