Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for a manufacturing client in Whitmore Lake, MI. You will design, develop, program, and support PLC- and HMI-based control systems for stamping operations, applying GM Common Controls Standards (GCCS) across all project phases.

The ideal candidate holds a BS in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics, brings 3+ years of automated manufacturing experience, and is proficient with Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of controls engineering experience in automated manufacturing
• Strong working knowledge of GM Common Controls Standards (GCCS)
• Experience supporting GM projects in stamping or other manufacturing areas using GCCS
• Proficiency with PLC platforms (Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley preferred)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, program, and support PLC- and HMI-based control systems for stamping operations
• Apply and enforce GCCS across all project phases
• Support GM stamping press lines, including press controls, material handling, destackers, conveyors, and safety systems
• Participate in controls architecture development, I/O mapping, network design, and system documentation
• Commission and debug controls systems during offline testing, installation, launch, and production support

As a Controls Engineer , you will be part of the Engineering Department supporting manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive mindset, which will align successfully in the organization.

Job Title: Senior Controls Engineer

Location: Whitmore Lake, MI

Pay Range: $50/hr

Assignment duration: 1 year, with the possibility of extension

What's the Job?

• Design, develop, program, and support PLC- and HMI-based control systems for stamping operations
