Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer for our Lake Orion, MI facility. You will lead development of advanced control systems, including robotics, vision systems, SCADA applications, and high-level languages for automated equipment.

Join a team of talented engineers and help manage projects from design through deployment, ensuring cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction. Travel up to 35% may be required to support customer sites and JR locations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of controls engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, mechatronics, motion control, vision systems, or programming.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience with CAD (AutoCAD Electrical).

Responsibilities

• Lead development of advanced control systems for robotics and vision systems.
• Assist with project management regarding cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
• Identify and implement design and workflow improvements.
• Evaluate problems, plan actions, and perform root-cause analyses.
• Troubleshoot robot controllers, ladder logic, and electrical/ mechanical systems.
• Power up, debug, and program machinery.
• Ensure equipment meets specifications using standard techniques.

Location Type: This is an on-site role at our Lake Orion, MI facility.

As aSenior Controls Engineer,you will work with some of the most talented engineers in the automation industry. This role will enable you to facilitate projects while integrating some of the most state-of-the-art robotics & technology available. How You’ll Make an Impact:

• Lead technical engineer in development of advanced control systems designs, i.e., robotics, vision systems,SCADA applications and high-level languages for various types of automated equipment.
• Assist with the successful management of assigned projects as they relate to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction.
• Recognize and implement design and workflow improvements.
• Evaluate problems, determine corrective actions, set plans, execute plans, and develop root cause analyses.
• Troubleshoot robot controllers, ladder logic, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices, and peripheral equipment.
• Perform machine power up, debug, and programming.
• Ensure equipment is designed and programmed to specifications using standard techniques and approaches.

What You’ll Bring:

• 5+ years of related experience in controls engineering
• Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
• Experience with any of the following: PLCs, HMIs, Robotics, Mechatronics, Motion Control, Vision Systems, and/or Programming.
• Solid leadership experience
• Ability to lead simultaneous projects and/or large projects.
• Experience with CAD (i.e. AutoCAD Electrical)

OtherDetails:

• Travel up to 35%to customer sites & other JR locations
• May represent the organization in communications and conferences.
• Lead teams and influence project direction and progress.
• Serve as a technical expert in the department and may mentor/train developing engineers.
• GCCS and GVOSS experience is a plus
