Job summary

CEC Controls is seeking experienced controls engineers to design automation systems from concept through commissioning in the automotive and manufacturing sectors.

The role covers reviewing specifications, creating system maps, PLC logic, and HMI screens, plus material specification and field startup support at customer sites. Strong problem solving and solo/team work are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years with a systems integrator including control panel design.
  • Experience with non-standard designs and system layouts.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, power distribution, and standards.
  • Ability to review specifications and implement designs.
  • Experience with installation and debugging activities.

Responsibilities

  • Design automation control systems from start to finish including PLC logic and HMIs.
  • Create system maps, sequences of operations, drawings, and material lists.
  • Specify panel and field materials (EBMs) for projects.
  • Provide field oversight during installation, startup, and commissioning.
  • Support customer facilities with startup and diagnostic efforts.

CEC Controls is looking for controls engineers who can perform the design of controls systems from start to finish, including troubleshooting, field startup and commissioning related to implementation in the automotive and manufacturing industries.
Responsibilities
Performing Design of Automation control systems, requirements which will include:
  • Review specifications and standard practices
  • Establishing non-standard designs as required
  • Follow internal and customer standards as required
  • Create system map layouts, sequence of operations, drawings packages, PLC logic and HMI screens
  • Specify Panel and field material by creating Electrical Bill of Material’s (EBM’s)
Field Duties And Responsibilities Include
  • Assisting in installation oversight
  • Startup and Debug at customers facilities
  • Launch and Standby support
Requirements
  • Education: Relevant bachelor’s or associate degree in related engineering or technology field, or equivalent relevant work experience with a technical degree.
  • 5+ years of industry experience working for a systems integrator; must include control panel and circuit design.
  • Non‑standard designs, system map layouts, sequence of operations, reviewing cycle time, studies and dimension switch layouts.
  • Design packages, design logic, enter logic, and the design of Smart Displays
  • Knowledge of System Architecture, including non‑standard material, control panel power requirements and/or distribution
  • Capable of reviewing the specifications and standard practices (internal hardwired and logic standards, general specifications and scope of work)
  • Technical knowledge and skills required:
    • RSLogix 5, 5000
    • RS Networx
    • DriveExecutive, DirveExplorer
    • PanelBuilder PDS, 1400e, 32, RSView Studio
  • Technical knowledge desired:
  • Ford NextGen or GVOSS standards, GM G12 standards, Microsoft Office Suite
  • Capable of assisting with installation and debugging with no additional support
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to travel
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship form CEC Controls.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Able to climb a 2-story ladder
    • Can walk a mile in 20 minutes
    • Be able to cover, on foot, a reasonable distance on a job site
    • Able to lift up to 30lbs without difficulty
    • All of the above items to be accomplished while carrying a laptop computer
